Me and MG/YA by Mark Terry

»Posted by on Jun 20, 2011 in Guest Blog | 9 comments

Please join me in welcoming fellow author Mark Terry to my blog this morning. Mark is busy touring the blogoverse to promote his new adult novel, The Valley of Shadows, but in this guest blog he talks about books for the younger set and why he enjoys reading and writing them. You can find out more about Mark and his books at his website www.markterrywriter.com Since Alissa so graciously agreed to host me during my blog tour, I can return the favor and at least not run my moth overmuch about the book I’m flogging, THE VALLEY OF SHADOWS, which is NOT YA or MG. In fact, I’m inclined to give it an R rating. But I have written two novels aimed at the Middle Grade market, MONSTER SEEKER and THE BATTLE FOR ATLANTIS. I also have one that veers a little bit older,...

Happy Spring and The Story Behind Popular

»Posted by on Mar 22, 2011 in Guest Blog, Shameless Self Promotion | 4 comments

It’s spring. It arrived in these parts with a dumping of snow and slush. Add to that the fact that presently the only way I can access the internet is via a signal from a kindly if unsuspecting neighbor, and well, I guess it hasn’t been the greatest start to the season. But things are looking brighter. Why? Because in less than two months my first book will be out! So, on that note, I direct you to this guest post I wrote for the YA Book Reads blog on the Story Behind...

Sunny Windows

»Posted by on Mar 16, 2011 in Guest Blog, Thoughts on writing | 6 comments

I was going to start off this post by saying that this time of year is perfect for sitting in (or near, if you aren’t quite as tiny as Amber here) a sunny window, but as I look at my window today there is no sun in sight, just gray clouds and rain. As every school kid knows April showers bring May flowers, and May flowers bring pilgrims. So, what do March showers bring? Well, ear infections and floods, but I see a bit more green out there and hear a lot more birds so there are some positive effects as well. I’m hoping that today you are able to find a sunny window of your own, and if not a literal sunny window at least a metaphorical one. Today I’m over at Adventures in Children’s Publishing for their WOW Wednesday feature writing about...

Sharing a couple paragraphs from my WIP

»Posted by on Feb 18, 2011 in Guest Blog, Thoughts on writing | 3 comments

Today, I’m doing something a little different. I’m sharing a couple of paragraphs from my present work in progress only not here. I’m sharing those paragraphs over at friend and fellow Class of 2K11er Gae Polisner. That cool book cover you see on the screen is the cover of Gae’s debut novel The Pull of Gravity, which will be out later this year. Anyway, Gae runs a regular Friday feature on her blog where you can read and provide feedback on the WIPs of different authors, and if you like submit some work of your own for feedback. So if you get a chance stop by to give me some feedback, and if possible share something you’re working on. I’d love to see...
