Enjoying the Ride

»Posted by on Jan 27, 2012 in My travels | 7 comments

Earlier this week, I was down in Delaware for the day job. My dog, Jack came along for the trip.  Delaware may not be known for a harsh winter climate, but this Tuesday, it was unusually warm for January. I had some time to kill so I made good on my resolution to enjoy the ride. Jack and I explored Cape Henlopen State Park. This was Jack’s first experience with saltwater. He was very confused by how peculiar it tasted. He kept trying to lay down in the shallow water only to become startled when a wave smacked him in the butt. This weekend, we have to travel up to Maine where it will be significantly colder than it was in Delaware on Tuesday. I think we’ll skip the beach this time...

2011: The Year in Review

»Posted by on Dec 30, 2011 in My travels | 14 comments

It’s been a great year. So, I thought I would post a final review of all I’ve been up to this year. January Well, January was mostly spent hunkering down indoors. There was many a 4-animal night on my bed. February I filmed my first ever book trailer with lots of help from friends far and wide and much cinematography help from my boyfriend. March Spring was in the air. I took advantage of the calm before the book launch storm to get out on a few warmer weather walks. April I spoke at some Pennsylvania libraries during National Library Week. My first official events as a published author. Very exciting! With my official release date just around the corner, Popular started showing up in the wild. Check out this awesome display that the Clinton Book Shop...

Cookies and Cards and Malls, Oh My

»Posted by on Dec 16, 2011 in My travels | 0 comments

I’ve been in full out Christmas mode this week. As I write this I am surrounded by boxes of Christmas cards, cookies are baking downstairs and I am busy planning a trip to the mall. Normally, I try to avoid malls in December, but this year with a book to sell, I’ll be headed over to the Barnes and Noble at the Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem, PA for a signing this evening with fellow KidLit Authors Club Members Amy Holder, Cynthia Chapman Willis, Ellen Jensen Abbott, Tim Young from 5 to 8 p.m. Hopefully, I can maintain all this Christmasyness until the holiday actually arrives!

Superlatives and Qualifiers

The other day we sort of stumbled upon what was according to an informational sign the second oldest continuously operating business in the country. Once, the location of the Taylor Wharton Iron and Steel Company today the business is part of a larger international outfit that manufactures tanks for the storage and transportation of stuff like oxygen and liquid nitrogen. While that was all very interesting, we were curious. What was the the oldest continuously operating business in the country? After enjoying our walk through the outdoors – with the exception of the part where the current factory is located the rest of the grounds are open to the public and are mostly filled with trees and waterways and woodland creatures (Though we did observe what appeared...

Back from PA

»Posted by on Oct 17, 2011 in My travels | 0 comments

My long weekend in Pennsylvania has drawn to a close, and it’s time to return to the daily grind, but I wanted to give you a quick recap on my fun weekend. I dragged my boyfriend along with me for this trip since it was part work and part fun, though I enjoyed all the work I was doing on this trip. The first stop was the Bradford County Library on Thursday night, where I had a great time talking to and meeting some fellow writers, book lovers and creative types. Then it was on to Wellsboro, PA where we were staying. Wellsboro is a really cool old fashioned town that includes gaslit streetlights. We stayed at the Penn Wells Hotel which dates back to the 1800s and makes you feel like you have ventured back in time even if it does have modern conveniences like...

Some October Happenings

»Posted by on Oct 10, 2011 in My travels, Shameless Self Promotion | 4 comments

Hi, how have you been? I realized it’s been awhile since I posted anything, but I have a good excuse. (Don’t I always?) So, far October has been a crazy month and this week will be no exception. Things started off with a bang with the awesome and amazing Collingswood Book Festival, where I had a great time hanging out with my fellow KidLit Authors Club Members. The following day I fought my way through Iron Man traffic to get to the library volunteer luncheon. Though, as someone pointed out, they should have considered renaming this particular race the Tin Man, since the triathlon became a biathlon thanks to the Delaware River being too high. After that I was off to State College, PA for the PA Library Association annual conference. In addition to...
