Cookies and Cards and Malls, Oh My
I’ve been in full out Christmas mode this week. As I write this I am surrounded by boxes of Christmas cards, cookies are baking downstairs and I am busy planning a trip to the mall. Normally, I try to avoid malls in December, but this year with a book to sell, I’ll be headed over to the Barnes and Noble at the Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem, PA for a signing this evening with fellow KidLit Authors Club Members Amy Holder, Cynthia Chapman Willis, Ellen Jensen Abbott, Tim Young from 5 to 8 p.m. Hopefully, I can maintain all this Christmasyness until the holiday actually arrives!
A Recap and an Exciting Giveaway
Saturday was the big YA-Palooza event at the Clinton Book Shop here in Clinton, NJ. It was a blast. There was fun, food and plenty of picture taking. Here’s author Amy Holder taking a picture of me while I take a picture of her: I got to catch up with some author friends of mine, and we all learned a lot about each other thanks to the author trivia game we played. I think the audience had a fun time guessing as well. I managed to stump them with a few of my author facts. Though sadly, they knew right away that I was the author who got a hideous perm in the sixth grade and nearly drove into a tree when learning to drive. In my defense, it was a small tree and learning to drive on an old stick shift BMW is less than ideal. All our guessers got to win some...
Events-a-palooza
It seems the palooza tagline has been used for all manner of events. I wonder if any enterprising equine enthusiasts (how’s that for alliteration?) have had an Appaloosa-palooza. If they haven’t they certainly should. Well, there won’t be any appaloosas (sorry, equine enthusiasts) but that’s about the only thing there won’t be at this Saturday’s YA-Palooza right here in downtown Clinton, NJ. I’ll be joining fellow YA authors Charlotte Bennardo, Kristi Cook, Amy Holder, Kathy McCullough and Natalie Zaman for this event which runs from 1 to 3. Enjoy lunch with the authors, answer fun trivia questions, win prizes and get a jump start on your holiday shopping at this fun event. The Clinton Bookshop is located at 12 E. Main...
Shoes
The other night I was at an event at my local Barnes & Noble book store, and if I was in the business of selling shoes I think I would have made a killing. My shoes were the star of the show. I’m not especially good at being a girly girl. I’m not fond of shopping, I spend almost no time in salons and spas and I’ve never been overly troubled about breaking a nail or two. Apparently, though, I have a thing for shoes. It’s not even that I have a lot of shoes. I just happen to be pretty particular about the shoes I do have. I have another author event this afternoon at the Barnes & Noble at the Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem, PA (sorry, just had to get in that little shameless self promotion). Some of the authors who were at Thursday...
The Warwick Children’s Book Festival is This Weekend
It has been a crazy, busy week here in Alissaland, and it’s not quite over. Tomorrow, I’m excited to head up to Warwick, NY for the Warwick Children’s Book Festival. I’ll be there signing copies of Popular. If you can make it this promises to be a really fun event with a great lineup of children’s and young adult authors. So, stop by and say hi and pick up your own “I am Popular” pin or a bookmark, just don’t expect me to be completely awake and coherent! (Note to self: drink lots of caffeine tomorrow...
