Happy Read Across America Day
Today is Read Across America Day, which not coincidentally happens to be Dr. Seuss’s birthday. To honor the good doctor and to celebrate this special day, you should read a book to someone. If you have kids read to them or if you know someone who will let you borrow theirs, go ahead. Even better read to some really big kids because even grown-ups deserve to have storytimes. When I worked at the children’s department of the library and a particularly good book came in, our boss would treat us to a reading. Those were always special days. You’re never too old to listen to a story. Dr. Seuss’s books, though long, are especially fun to read aloud. One of my favorites is Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose. What about you? What’s your favorite...
